Adriaen's Landing Project Bond Allocations

The Comptroller is pleased to provide this report, which offers a summary of State Bond Commission allocations related to the Adriaen’s Landing project. Adriaen’s Landing is a major public and private economic development effort located in downtown Hartford. The total cost is projected to be $771.1 million and includes the following: $355 million in state general obligation (GO) bonds and $99.55 million in state appropriations; $74.2 million in revenue bonds and loans through the Capital City Economic Development Authority; and $242.35 million in private investments. (Note, only the $355 million in state GO bonds will be allocated through the State Bond Commission).The total amount allocated to date is $539,600,000.00.

The project is named for Adriaen Courtsen Block, a 17th Century Dutch explorer who is believed to be the first European to land in what now is present-day Hartford. Adriaen’s Landing will include the development of a convention center and a hotel with parking facilities, as well as retail stores, offices, entertainment complexes and housing units. A related project involves the construction of a stadium located across the Connecticut River at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, which will primarily be used for the University of Connecticut football program.
